"Do’s and Don’t’s of Cheap Used Strollers"
Sipping your morning coffee and patrolling the net, you come across a stroller at a great price, just one problem, it is used. Should you purchase it? If so, what do you look out for? The following is a list of do’s and don’ts when buying a used stroller.
Stroller Safety:
Do: Check safety regulations and find out if the model has had any recalls on it. To check if your model has had any recalls click here: here.
Do not: Do not purchase a stroller over ten years old, they are usually deemed unsafe. Small and plastic parts may deteriorate over time.
Parts:
Do: Check the stroller for defects and that it has all its parts intact. Check the harness and make sure the latch still works.
Do not: Buy the stroller if there are any broken pieces even if it is a great deal. Sharp edges could harm the child.
Stroller Cleanliness:
Do: Check the stroller to see that it is clean; the material is clean and not ripped (ripped fabric could be a choking hazard).
Do not: Purchase the stroller if it has been stored in a garage or damp basement, these areas are breeding grounds for mold or allergens.
When buying a used baby stroller, you should keep a sharp eye for possible hazards, use your best judgment and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
